silver beach
Silver Beach with its grey-white quartz sand is a few km outside Behai and well worth visiting - no admission charge any more August 2010! But do not expect clear blue water - the quartz sand makes the water appear quite murky, even though it is considered to be save for swimming. If you have the chance to stick around the beach after dark, you will be in for a wonderful sight. If the sky is clear and the light from the moon is shining on the water, you will be treated to the fluorescence of the seaweed that grows fairly close to the shore line. But the main effect is the reflection of the moonlight by the quartz sand of the beach - don't miss it!
Take bus no.3 to get to Silver Beach, ticket price 2 yuan per person, to be dropped into a box at the driver's seat - have exact money ready. Buses frequently leave from Beibuwan Square 北部湾广场 in the centre of the city, but usually don't run after 9.30 p.m. at night.
